What is EFT/Tapping?
EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a self-help stress reduction technique that combines elements of cognitive and exposure therapy, with the physical stimulation of acupuncture points.
It is often referred to as ‘Tapping’ because it uses a two finger tapping process to stimulate the acupuncture point and create a relaxation response within the nervous system.
EFT is often used to change negative feelings, reduce distressing and/or self-limiting thoughts, to alter repetitive unwanted behaviors and is even effective for working with and resolving traumatic memories. It is also commonly used to create positive emotional states, achieve desired goals and attain higher states of health, well-being and resilience.
Evidence-based Clinical EFT involves five (5) steps known as the 'basic recipe.' One can address a range of issues by simply focusing on the issue you would like to address with an acceptance statement, along with a simple two finger tapping technique coupled with a reminder phrase.
Research, including randomised clinical trials and meta analyses has established effectiveness for phobias, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, pain and more. Please check out this link for more information on the research https://www.evidencebasedeft.com/research
